The Widow and the Orphan by J. Thomas-Like

Pepper Taylor took it on the chin in love and life more times than she cared to count. She has finally found the man of her dreams in Gabriel Seigal, but when he’s diagnosed with a crippling illness, their future comes apart at the seams. As if that isn’t enough, the prospect of an unexpected child give their world another spin in the cosmic blender. Can Pepper navigate the overwhelming paths through grief, loss, and unexpected motherhood?

I loved this story from Ms. J Thomas Like. I, unlike some of her other readers, have not read Widow and the Rock Star but did thoroughly enjoy Widow and the Will.

I was slightly concerned I wouldn’t be able to follow the story since it is a follow up to the author’s freshman novel but I was pleasantly surprised that it flowed perfectly and I never got lost.

My heart goes out to the characters for the duress they endured during this Widow tale. J Thomas Like is a master at describing the process of grief and the turmoil that one goes through when thrust into such a situation.

Another great book in the Widow series! I loved that it picks up with characters I knew from the Rock Star. Pepper & Gabe’s love story isn’t traditional to begin with and their story in this book is one that showcases the strength, loyalty, heartache and HOPE that true love requires. Pepper’s BFF Viv and her family are another integral part of the book, proving once again, that true friends are another of life’s greatest blessings. I cried several times, laughed several times and really felt connected to the characters in this book. Great read!!
